A Father’s Worry

A Father's Worry - Audio version

A daughter, had Mapulon.

Destiny played tricks, she fell ill at dawn.

Young, sweet, presence like the breeze,

Mapulon did everything to ease her disease.

The skies were always blue and gray,

Shades of sorrow and dismay.

While raindrops fell and hurried to touch her skin,

Mapulon paced back and forth,

worried over the poor child growing thin.

Often did the clouds roar,

doing nothing but worsening her sore.

Mapulon would be found atop a rock, in deep thought.

His daughter’s energy, he sought.

During his moments of reflection,

the clouds approached with a suggestion.

A realization that had never occurred,

for the first time in a while, an idea that left him assured.

Mapulon stood earnestly under the gaze of his daughter and wife.

Once and for all, he was going to end their strife.

With a deep breath, he began to shout,

“My old friend, araw, please come out!”

From then on, his daughter’s spirits arose.

Absorbing the light, basking in sunshine,

her suffering came to a close.

The father was at ease, his heart finally fine.

The sun followed her everywhere,

And smiles appeared, when days ago they were rare.

Mapulon’s chest was no longer tight,

as he was able to harness the season’s might.
